The strengths and weaknesses of feature writing over news writing come down to readers' needs. Feature writing answers questions like what it feels like and why it matters, whereas news writing is more direct and gets to the base question of what happened. The strengths would be greater depth and intrigue. They don't have to follow any pyramid and can draw the reader in however they want, unlike news writing that needs to be concise and to the point. On the downside, I think that feature writing can sometimes slip into bias, sometimes in its interpretation. It also takes time to read feature writing, since it's usually a bit longer than any news writing I've ever read. Both have their reasons for being around, and both serve a purpose, so it's a matter of what strengths or weaknesses you're

looking for in your reading material.
