What about kids' schools has changed since you were a kid?

School has changed since I was a kid; it's still just about as long, but now there's no more nap time for kindergartners, lunch is at different times instead of all at once, homework takes forever, and recess is shorter than before. I definitely think that if someone spends the better half of the day somewhere and comes home, but still has to do more work, I wonder if they did anything in the classroom at all. Plus, it's overwhelming for parents when they want to spend quality time with their kid, but the kid has homework, and that's the last thing the kid wants to do after already being at school all day. So more often than not, it turns into a fight about doing the homework. I also think it's sad that kids from all grades don't get to spend lunch together. Now I know this may still be different in other areas, but where my kids go to school, they separate grades and lunches by grade, and they have to rush in to eat to make time for the other grades—quite
